camo
just read on the new york times website about a new camouflage called OPTIFADE!!!!designed by gore (the people who make gore-tex), it's supposedly the best camo every because it's made according to the deer's vision! i tried to google an image of the pattern because it sounds quite cool, and this is the best thing i could find:
reminds me a little of this epice scarf that we had at metier for some reason.
(sold out in like 2 days! but they have it at una in portland)
prompted me to google search images of camo...which are actually quite nice, especially the digi-camo:
where exactly are you supposed to be when you wear #11??? camo is actually prett cool until you think about the fact that you're supposed to wear it to conceal yourself while you attempt to kill someone/something mercilessly...hmmmm.
last but not least, check this out:
CREEPY!!!

local's run in 7x7 magazine
i mentioned earlier about the shoot i assisted on for 7x7 magazine (a local san francisco publication) at the stanford linear accelerator. it was a logan's run themed shoot, so if you've seen the movie, it might make more sense. for those who haven't it's a weird cult 70s post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie about a civilization that doesn't live past 30...they either try to escape and are killed or are recycled and born again. it's the story of a cop-turned-rebel that escapes their world and discovers a new one...with consequences!!! here's a few samples

im blushing
recent explosions in style blogs make it ok to put anyone's picture on the internet and i don't know how i feel about this. i wore this one outfit one day that i hated at work and everyone loved it, i got so many compliments, and then someone took a picture of me for their blog. what the fuck? i thought (and still think) i looked terrible. but street peeper does catch some good inspirational outfits...just not mine.
and yet another blogosphere embarassment that i am perpetuating:
from golden gauge
cheers to/here's to vanity.

sashiko!
i was reading this blog last night about embroidery and wanted to start a sashiko project. it's a form of traditional japanese embroidery used as reinforcement on clothing, but also as decoration. it's super easy and the white thread on navy is so simple, yet elegant. most of the patterns are geometric and kind of trippy. so i was getting all psyched about that last night and then found a pattern book at the valencia community thrift store today! whadduya know! here are some examples of what i'd like to work on....
the dog coat! always a favorite
and as hip as it gets, a sashiko messenger bag! made especially for lance armstrong!
damn japanese have done it again!

tile or die
here's another silly way to waste your sunday...
THE TILE MACHINE!!!
create wonderful tiled patterns like so:
they are quite small, but once you make one you can save it and send it to all of your friends! and even make it bigger on your own home computer system!

nico showed me this (happy?!)
HOW COOL??? so many different animal sculptures, this one obviously a giraffe, by artist joshua allen harris. the spontaneity! the drama! the movement! just wish i thought of it. i guess now they're being used in ads for the environmental defense agency. a worthy cause for such sprightly objects!
