oh, the turbanity!

i wore a scarf on my head again today and got thinking about turbans...ever seen the lofty blue turbans of the nihang sikhs? quite impressive! the nihangs are an order of sikhs known for their bravery and successful military endeavors, especially when outnumbered. they carry spears and knives, even during peacetime. do you think they get headaches??

like that pun? debi's cutting my hair tomorrow night but i don't know what to do! honestly, she just goes at it and i don't care what happens. it always looks good! here are some ideas churning in my hair-protected brain...

worth about a million bucks

my dad got me tickets to see million dollar quartet at the apollo theater last night. so rad! the show's about a night in december 1956, where elvis, johnny cash, carl perkins, and jerry lee lewis all happened to be at the sun records studios at the same time and spontaneously recorded a jam session. the fathers of rock & roll!!! all in one room together!!!



the show was great, although the audience was a bit old (whatev, it's their generation) which wouldn't have mattered, except that i wanted to dance the whole time and everyone was kind of just stiffly clapping. they really try to rile people up at the end, which worked, and eventually it was all just shake, baby, shake!



how cool is jerry lee lewis? too bad he got shafted for marrying his cousin and for all that tax evasion.



i also realized that me and jerry and elvis all have the same haircut. i should totally start slicking it back and carrying a comb in my back pocket.

we rocked the di pietro todd hair show at ruby skye (ha!) on sunday. saw all my ladies from vegas again, debi did my hair up all big and curly, and i met some other fun, beautiful young people, including nice little marjorie who you may recognize from america's next top model. the awesome styling is by aisha drake!!!

lisa cut my hair last week into vidal sassoon's firefly. she showed me the awesome book that vidal used and still uses as a training guide: a-ma-zing! metier is right next to vidal and everyone has the best hair. my girl debi at di pietro also worked at vidal for years...crazy geometry! so innovative!!! so influential!!! check it out:

one night in VEGAS!!!

this weekend i flew down to vegas to be a hair model for di pietro todd, the best salon here in sf!!! my friend and incredibly talented stylist, debi (wasssuuuupp debiiiii!!!!!) invited me to go with to help them celebrate l'oreal's 100th year anniversary. last week i had my hair cut and colored, then flew down saturday morning and made our way to the venetian....!!!!!!

saturday was: rehearsal and prep all day; dinner; talking our way into some club (why keep the models out???); dancing dancing dancing dancing dancing dancing; and going to bed too late.

as a vegas virgin, i was blown away by the excess...the girls...the money...the fakeness...the midwesterners...the exorbitant prices...the hotels...the waste...the GLAMOUR!!!! it was short but kind of long. overwhelming but invigorating. a nice little vacation.

the other models were great, and enjoyed chocolate and cookies as much as i do. thanks for a great time, girls!!! see you soon!
